Scope and General Purpose:
The Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the Group of Hotels and Resorts by ensuring accurate financial records, effective cost control, and timely financial reporting. The role plays a key part in monitoring hotel revenue streams, managing operational expenses, and supporting management in financial decision-making within a hospitality environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and timely accounting records for all hotel operations, including rooms revenue, food & beverage, events, and ancillary services.
- Record and process invoices, payments, accruals, and expenses in line with hotel accounting standards and company policies.
- Perform daily revenue reconciliation by matching PMS reports, POS systems, cash, credit card transactions, and third-party platforms (e.g. delivery companies and online booking channels).
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports related to hotel performance.
- Preparation of management accounts, profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Monitor and analyze operating costs related to departments such as F&B, housekeeping, maintenance, and front office, identifying variances and cost-saving opportunities.
- Support inventory control processes for food, beverages, operating supplies, and housekeeping items, ensuring accurate stock valuation.
- Perform month-end close procedures.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities, providing historical data, trend analysis, and departmental insights.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with local regulations and ensure proper tax compliance.
- Manage petty cash, including reconciliations and reporting.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting documentation and reconciling accounts.
- Collaborate with hotel department heads to ensure financial controls are followed and financial data is accurately reflected.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial information, hotel data, and company records, ensuring compliance with internal policies and professional standards at all times.
- Carry out any additional accounting or finance-related duties assigned by the Company or Management, in line with the scope of the role and operational needs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- ACCA certification will be considered an advantage.
- 3+ years of experience in hotel or hospitality accounting will be considered a strong advantage.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and hospitality cost control.
- Knowledge of VAT regulations and reporting requirements.
- Experience with accounting software (Soft+1); experience with hotel PMS/POS systems is an advantage.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced hotel environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
