About the Municipality

The Municipality of Lefkoniko is a displaced (occupied) municipality of the Famagusta District. Although its administrative area has been under Turkish occupation since 1974, the Municipality continues to operate in exile, keeping the history, culture and traditions of Lefkoniko alive and supporting its displaced citizens across Cyprus and abroad.

Main roles & activities

• Represents the displaced municipality and its citizens before the Republic of Cyprus
• Promotes and preserves the history, culture and heritage of Lefkoniko
• Organises events, memorials, cultural activities and trips for citizens
• Maintains contact with Lefkoniko refugees and supports community initiatives
• Runs projects such as the “Golden Directory of Professions of Lefkoniko”
