Machinist / Hydraulics Engineer
We are looking for a versatile and skilled Machinist / Hydraulics Engineer to join our mechanical engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in machining precision components as well as repairing, rebuilding, and diagnosing hydraulic systems and cylinders. This is a varied and rewarding role within a family run company offering a variety of repairs & services.
Key Duties & Responsibilities Include:
· Machining Responsibilities - Set up and operate manual machining equipment including lathes, milling machines, boring mills, and drills. Manufacture and recondition precision components such as shafts, pins, bushes, sleeves, and cylinder parts. Carry out turning, facing, boring, threading, milling, and other machining processes. Assist in producing one-off components or small batch parts for in-house repairs. Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, verniers, bore gauges, DTI, etc.) to maintain tight tolerances. Work with fitters and welders to prepare or finish components for assembly or repair.
· Hydraulic Cylinder Repair & Maintenance: Strip, inspect, and rebuild hydraulic cylinders (single-acting, double-acting, telescopic). Replace seals, hone barrels, inspect rods, and repair or manufacture worn components. Work closely with machinists to produce parts required for cylinder rebuilds. Assemble and pressure-test repaired hydraulic cylinders to ensure correct functionality.
· Field Service & Workshop Duties: Attend site to install or remove hydraulic and mechanical components. Maintain workshop equipment and keep machining and hydraulic areas clean and organised. Support other departments including fitting, welding, and motor repairs when required.
· Quality & Safety – Conduct dimensional checks, pressure tests and final inspections on completed work. Complete job cards, inspection reports, and documentation accurately. Follow all health C safety procedures, ensuring safe operation of tools, machinery, and lifting equipment.
Skills & Qualifications:
· Proven experience in manual machining essential.
· Background in hydraulic cylinders.
· Ability to read engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
· Skilled with precision measuring equipment and inspection techniques.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
· Valid driver’s license preferred; willingness to work on-site when required.
Working Hours:
Monday-Friday 8am – 4.30am.
Some Saturdays required 7.30am – 11.30am (Paid at an overtime rate) Knowledge of Greek and English Language
