AC/DC Electric Motor Rewinder
We are seeking an experienced and skilled AC/DC Electric Motor Rewinder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience diagnosing faults, dismantling, rewinding, repairing, and reassembling AC and DC electric motors and related rotating equipment. Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to quality workmanship are essential.
Key Duties & Responsibilities Include:
· Motor Assessment & Diagnostics - Inspect and diagnose faults in electric motors using testing equipment (megger, surge tester, growler, multimeter, etc.) Conduct visual inspections for wear, burn damage, shorts, and mechanical failure. Assess motor windings and determine appropriate rewinding specifications
· Motor Disassembly & Preparation - Safely dismantle AC and DC motors, including removal of stators, rotors, shafts, and bearings. Strip old windings from stators/armatures using approved methods. Clean motor components (stators, rotors, housings) using appropriate tools and solvents
· Rewinding - Rewind stators, rotors, armatures, and fields for AC and DC motors. Accurately measure and record winding data (turns, pitch, wire gauge, coil configuration). Wind coils by hand or with coil winding machines. Insert new coils, perform lacing, forming, and insulation. Apply varnish (dip and bake) and ensure proper curing.
· Re-assembly & Repair - Replace or rebuild motor components such as shafts, bearings, seals, and insulators. Align and assemble motors to exact specifications. Balance rotors as required. Ensure all tolerances are within operational standards.
· Testing & Quality Control - Perform electrical tests including insulation resistance, winding resistance, and high-pot testing. Test run motors after rebuild to ensure proper performance. Complete all documentation, job cards, and test reports accurately.
· Workshop & Safety Responsibilities - Maintain clean and organized workspace. Follow health & safety regulations, including safe handling of electrical equipment and chemicals. Assist in general workshop duties as required.
Skills & Qualifications:
