Essential & Desirable Criteria for the Role

of this document. These criteria are part of the assessment criteria and will influence the

Essential 1. You must undergo and pass as security & police check. If you are found
successful, you will be requested to provide a Clean Criminal Record and a
Sex Offenders Certificate issued by the Republic of Cyprus. For UKFMs that
will be found successful on this advert and who have lived on island for

longer than 18 months, will be requested to provide a Clean Criminal Record
and a Sex Offenders Certificate issued by the Republic of Cyprus.
2. All candidates who have lived in the UK, must undergo and pass an
Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
3. As part of the Safer Recruitment process, successful candidates must
provide, upon employment, clean criminal records from all countries they
have lived in the last 5 years.

8. Candidates must complete the Self Declaration form related to criminal

assessed on a case-by-case basis and considering that the role will be
working with children and vulnerable adults.
9. Awareness of Data Protection practices and importance to protect the
personal information of children and vulnerable adults.
10. Relevant administrative / clerical experience in an office environment.
11. The ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing is an
essential part of this role.
12. GCSE (or equivalent) in English, and Maths Grade 4 (C) or above.
13. Ability to plan and organise workload in order to achieve agreed outputs.

Brief Description of Role
To work following the direction of the Examinations Officer to implement correct examination
procedures and ensure the proper conduct of examination candidates for internal and external
examinations according to the guidelines of The Joint Council of Qualifications (JCQ).

• To give clear instructions and information to candidates at the
start and finish of every examination.
• It is the role of the invigilator to prevent possible candidate
malpractice and administrative failures related to the
examination.
• To be aware of the methods to summons help during an
examination, if required.
• To be able to deliver First Aid if required.
• At the end of each examination, to organise the collection of all
scripts and to ensure that candidates have completed all
required details on their script prior to dismissing candidates
from the examinations room.
• Return all completed scripts to the Examinations Office to be
stored securely.
SUPPORT FOR THE SCHOOL
• Be reliable, flexible and readily available during the main
examination periods, able to confirm their attendance well in
advance. During the Summer Examination series of
May/June, invigilators need to be able to stay at school until
1800 hrs for the afternoon examinations.
• To be responsible for ensuring that all candidates have an
equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
• The invigilator’s role is to prevent possible candidate
malpractice and possible administrative failures.
• To be aware of the correct procedure in the event of an
emergency, eg fire or earthquake evacuation.
SUPPORT FOR THE EXAMINATONS OFFICER
• To report to and be briefed by the Examinations Officer prior to
each examination session.
• To give their full attention to conducting the examination
properly and to inform the Examinations Officer of any
concerns they may have regarding the examination process.
• To declare to the Examinations Officer if they have invigilated
examinations previously and if they have any current
maladministration/ malpractice sanctions applied to them.
• To record any incidents of suspected candidate malpractice
and report these immediately to the Examinations Officer.
• To deliver approved invigilator training to any other members
of staff who may be asked to assist with invigilation, as
required.
• To undertake other duties requested by the Examinations
Officer, where able, eg Centre supervision of examination
timetable clash candidates between examination sessions.
• To support the Examinations Officer with such administrative
tasks as maintaining examination question paper security by
supporting the ‘second pair of eyes check.
