Salary:
- Starting annual salary of €37,688.69–€43,142.58.
Employment type:
- Full-time, 100% appointment on a 24-month contract, renewable subject to performance and funding.
Work arrangement:
- Nicosia-based research with laboratory and field duties; flexible and remote-working arrangements are available where compatible with the work.
Main duties:
- Conduct research into wind and water erosion to support sustainable agricultural practices.
- Install and maintain runoff and suspended-sediment monitoring equipment in a mountain catchment of approximately one square kilometre.
- Monitor wind erosion at an agricultural field site during the June–November period.
- Lead soil and vegetation sampling and the analysis of field and laboratory measurements.
- Process drone imagery and produce three-dimensional data products.
- Use MWAC dust samplers and automated erosion and meteorological monitoring equipment.
- Manage and analyse data from environmental sensors and data loggers.
Requirements:
- PhD in Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Agricultural Sciences or a related discipline.
- Field experience in wind or water erosion, including experience gained through postgraduate research.
- Practical skills with data loggers, sensors and soil laboratory work.
- Excellent Python or R skills, strong analysis and organisation.
- Valid driving licence.
- Drone operation, digital surface models, Agisoft Metashape or similar software, and satellite-image experience are advantageous.
