Position: Back-end Software Engineer

On behalf of our client, a growing technology-focused company within a global brokerage firm, we are looking for a Back-end Software Engineer to join its expanding team in Limassol.
The role focuses on developing reliable, scalable and high-performance back-end solutions that support modern business operations. You will work closely with front-end developers and product teams to build and improve applications, APIs and server-side systems.
The Role
- Work closely with front-end developers and product stakeholders to connect user-facing features with back-end functionality.
- Design, develop and maintain server-side applications and APIs.
- Produce well-structured, efficient and maintainable back-end code.
- Improve system performance, scalability and overall reliability.
- Conduct testing, identify bugs and resolve issues within server-side applications.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex technical problems when they arise.
- Keep up to date with developments in back-end technologies, tools and development practices.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation relating to back-end systems and solutions.
Requirements
- Professional experience with a server-side programming language such as C#, Python, Java or Node.js.
- Experience with back-end frameworks such as ASP.NET Core MVC, Express.js, Spring Boot or Django.
- Good knowledge of RESTful APIs, including their development and integration.
- Practical experience with Git or other version control systems and exposure to CI/CD environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and debugging abilities.
- A collaborative approach with good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Additional Experience
The following would be considered an advantage:
- Knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
- Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes or cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Experience with testing tools and frameworks such as Mocha, Jest or JUnit.
- Understanding of API security principles and tools such as Postman or Swagger.
- Familiarity with Agile development environments.
- A willingness to continuously learn and develop within a fast-moving technology environment.
