Main duties:
- Build a teacher-facing AI assistant platform, starting with mathematics, and design it to support other subjects and skills.
- Develop features for lesson planning, lesson preparation and concept explanations.
- Build tools for generating graphs and other visuals.
- Connect the assistant to course materials to produce accurate, relevant answers.
- Optimise performance and costs for tens of thousands of users.
- Design evaluation and testing with the content team and monitor feature quality, usage and cost.
- Document system behaviour in clear language to support data protection and AI compliance.
Requirements:
- Degree in computer science or a related field.
- Hands-on production experience with LLM agents or AI assistants, function calling and multistep workflows.
- Strong prompt and context engineering skills and experience generating structured output.
- Experience building retrieval-augmented generation solutions.
- Knowledge of caching, model routing and token budgets to manage LLM costs.
- Experience evaluating and testing agents and outputs.
- Ability to design modular, extensible software.
- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript or Java, plus REST APIs and Git.
- Familiarity with Model Context Protocol and agent frameworks.
- MS Office skills and an organised, proactive approach with attention to detail.
- Creativity, critical observation and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in education or experience in educational technology is an advantage.
