Senior Full Stack Developer
Defence & Security Products
Larnaca, Cyprus · Full-time · Minimum 3 years professional experience
Who We Are
IANUS Technologies builds dual-use software for defence, national security, civil protection and critical infrastructure.
We are a team of more than 30 developers and researchers across Cyprus and Greece. IANUS holds National Facility Security Clearance from the Cyprus Ministry of Defence, ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO 9001.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced full stack developer to build production software for defence and security customers. This is a core product software developer role.
You will own features end to end — architecture, implementation and deployment. You will have real influence over what we build and how we build it.
What You Will Actually Be Doing[SH1]
■ Building full-stack applications. Designing, developing, and maintaining production features across the frontend and backend of our C2I, situational-awareness platforms, and other software products, including user interfaces, APIs, business logic, and database models.
■ Developing reliable, real-time systems. Working with live data feeds, geospatial information, interactive maps, and asset tracking to deliver responsive applications that remain reliable under demanding operational conditions.
■ Contributing to technical decisions. Evaluating technologies, proposing solutions, and helping shape application architecture, technical direction, and implementation strategies.
■ Building secure software. Applying secure coding practices, implementing authentication and authorisation, protecting sensitive data, and contributing to threat modelling and security testing.
■ Improving development and deployment workflows. Working with containerisation, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, logging, and monitoring to support reliable releases and maintainable applications.
■ Integrating external systems. Connecting applications with sensors, third-party APIs, legacy systems, partner services, and standards-based interfaces.
■ Maintaining code quality. Participating in code reviews, writing maintainable and testable code, documenting technical decisions, and sharing knowledge with the engineering team.
■ Collaborating with end users and stakeholders. Understanding the needs of police, fire services, security operators, and crisis management teams, and translating their requirements into practical software solutions.
What This Role Is Not
Not a pure research or academic position. Our work builds on applied research but ships as production software with real deadlines and real users.
Not a fully remote role. We operate on a hybrid model, with regular office presence in Cyprus or Greece.
Not an agency or client-services role. You will be building IANUS’s own products and platforms.

■ At least 3 years of professional experience building and shipping production software with real users.
■ Strong backend engineering — depth in PHP/Laravel, or equivalent depth in Python, Node.js, Go, Java or C#, with willingness to work in our stack.

■ Relational database design and optimisation — PostgreSQL or MySQL, including schema design, indexing, and query performance analysis.
■ API design and integration — REST/JSON, authentication and authorisation models (OAuth2, JWT, RBAC), versioning and documentation.
■ Engineering fundamentals — Git, Linux, Docker, automated testing and CI/CD, with ownership of code from commit through to production.
■ Academic background — a university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline. An M.Sc. or Ph.D. is an advantage. Candidates with an outstanding delivery record but no formal degree will also be considered.
■ Professional-level written and spoken English.
Eligibility to work in Cyprus, willingness to travel in Europe for partner meetings, demonstrations and field trials, and willingness to undergo national security vetting.Desirable

■ Security engineering: OWASP, secure SDLC, penetration-test remediation, and experience working within an ISO/IEC 27001 framework.
■ Prior experience in defence, public safety, emergency response or critical infrastructure, including familiarity with C2 concepts and interoperability standards (STANAG 4603, HLA, OGC, NATO interfaces). An existing security clearance, or eligibility to obtain one.
■ Greek language.
■ Familiarity with European defence and research funding instruments and the ability to engage confidently with partners and funding bodies.
