Essential & Desirable Criteria for the Role

Essential 1. You must undergo and pass a security & police check. If you are found
successful, you will be requested to provide a Clean Criminal Record and a
Sex Offenders Certificate issued by the Republic of Cyprus. For UKFMs that
will be found successful on this advert and who have lived on island for
longer than 18 months, will be requested to provide a Clean Criminal Record
and a Sex Offenders Certificate issued by the Republic of Cyprus.

2. A good knowledge of office-based IT is needed, including Microsoft Office
packages (Word, Excel, Outlook) and electronic filing practices.
3. The ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing is an
essential part of this role.

5. Be prepared to self-drive an MT vehicle (and prepared to maintain or obtain
FMT600) to attend meetings across WSBA and ESBA or occasionally in the
Republic of Cyprus

Official Language
The official language of the Sovereign Base Areas is English and consequently English is
the official language of British Forces Cyprus. All documents are to be completed in this
language. All employees of the Sovereign Base Areas Administration and British Forces
Cyprus are expected to have a basic command of the English language as a pre-requisite
for employment.

Brief Description of Role
The Kennel Assistant is required to perform the following roles: feeding, exercising, and grooming
MWDs, as well as collating, distributing, and filing all paperwork relating to the care and
maintenance of each dog. They must raise any illness or injury concerns regarding an MWD to the
SNCO IC Section as soon as is practicable. Additionally, they are to report section unserviceability

and faults to the SNCO Section, while maintaining and upkeeping the kennels and compound
areas utilized by all MWDs housed and employed within the RAF Akrotiri Dog Section. Other duties
encompass wider aspects of animal husbandry and daily care. These responsibilities include, but
are not limited to, administering veterinarian-prescribed medications to MWDs and maintaining
accurate individual medication records. Additionally, this role involves transporting or supporting
the conveyance of MWDs to the EPI veterinary clinic for injuries, illnesses, or routine check-ups.
Responsible to Supervised daily by SNCO MWD, responsible to OC Sy Flt.
Priorities (list in order)
• Informing SNCO IC Dog Section of any illness/injury to Police dogs and give immediate first
aid if required.
• Provide daily care: Feed, exercise, and groom Military Working Dogs (MWDs).
• Maintain and reporting of any unserviceable facilities and equipment to SNCO IC Dog
Section.
• Manage documentation in relation to MWD feed, medication and welfare.
• Support general husbandry.
