Alpha.jobs, on behalf of its client and in cooperation with a licensed employment agency with license number 547, is looking for Special Scientist – Genomics & Bioacoustics.
Salary:
- €1,305–€2,480 gross per month
Employment type:
- Full-time, three-month contract with possible renewal
Work arrangement:
- Research and laboratory work based in Nicosia, with possible fieldwork in Southern Africa for one post
Main duties:
- Build and run bioinformatics pipelines and downstream analyses of whole-genome and metabarcoding data.
- Perform population-genomics, admixture-mapping, GWAS and related computational analyses.
- Record and measure animal vocalisations and analyse playback experiments using audio and video data.
- Carry out DNA extraction, quantification and genomic-library preparation for metabarcoding.
- Contribute to collaborative research outputs and maintain clear, reproducible analytical records.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant discipline, depending on the specific post.
- Molecular-laboratory experience in genomic-library preparation.
- Proficiency in R, command-line tools and bioinformatics workflows.
- Excellent English; demographic-inference experience and first-author publications are advantageous.
- For one post, avian-fieldwork experience and availability for Southern Africa are required.
